In 2024, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport is in a phase of rapid development, characterized by several aspects:

1. Expansion of the Route Network: Baiyun Airport plans to open up to 17 new international and regional routes in the second half of 2024, including new flights to London Gatwick and Perth, Australia, as well as launching services from Guangzhou to Belgrade by China Southern Airlines and Air Serbia, and resuming flights from Guangzhou to Adelaide and Phu Quoc. This will further strengthen Baiyun Airport's global air network.

2. Growth in Passenger and Cargo Volume: As of now, Baiyun Airport serves over 230 passenger destinations with approximately 1,500 international and regional flights per week. In terms of cargo, the airport has over 5 million square meters of warehouse space and an annual handling capacity exceeding 4 million tons. In 2023, the volume of cargo and mail exceeded 2 million tons again, with nearly 70% being international and regional, maintaining its position as the second busiest in the country for four consecutive years.

3. Progress on the Third-Phase Expansion Project: The third-phase expansion project at Baiyun Airport is proceeding at full speed. This includes the construction of Terminal T3, two additional runways (West 2 and East 3), a comprehensive transportation center, and the East 4 and West 4 concourses of Terminal T2. The project is expected to be completed and operational by 2025, transforming Baiyun Airport into a more powerful hub with warehouse areas expanding to over 10 million square meters and a terminal cargo throughput capacity reaching over 6 million tons.

4. Development of the Aviation Industry: By 2025, it is anticipated that the total output value of Guangzhou's aviation and related industries will exceed 100 billion yuan, transitioning from 'hub traffic' to 'hub economy' and fostering the formation of internationally competitive industrial clusters.

5. Improvement in Service Quality: Baiyun Airport focuses on 'second-level operation control,' implements nearby take-off and landing procedures, shortens the cutoff time for domestic flights, increases the bridge docking rate, and enhances operational efficiency and service quality through 24-hour customs clearance and 144-hour visa-free transit policies. It also launched the 'Airport Link' service platform, consistently winning the ACI's 'World Airport Service Quality Satisfaction First' award for four consecutive years.

In 2024, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport is actively promoting high-quality development across multiple fronts, aiming to become a comprehensive international aviation hub with international competitiveness.
